Initial testing bodes wellAfter having to return my first barrel - no hassle - quick turn around - I now have a little Model seven that shows some real promise. My first group or two was with some quickly reloaded stuff using surplus 148 grain hard ball pull downs. At 100 yards these shot under 1 1/4”. I was amazed as none of my other rifles will shoot this stuff better than just inside 2”. I was only using these to avoid wasting my ‘good’ loads on getting the groups on paper.
Interestingly enough the rifle did not like Burger 168 grain VLD Hunter bullets. I shot 6 different loads with these bullets and none of them shot worth a darned. Finished up by shooting the remaining hard ball stuff and put 6 shots in about 1 1/8”. Would have thought the 1 in 10 twist would have done a bit better with the 168 grain bullets. Won’t know for sure until I can try some other brands. Since I won’t be using this on dangerous game I would not be all that unhappy If I have to go to a 150 grain bullet of some sort.
Installation was easy. Wish these were available in other calibers such as 6.5 Creedmore, 243, or even 6mm Remington.
Great value barrelWent on easy. The remage setup is super easy to do. Pretty accurate right out of the box, but I really only sighted it in. Groups look great, definately a shooter. For the money, this is one of the best values out there. Green Mountain makes a quality product.
